about the drawing above: colour inks on paper / dimensions: 70 / 33 cm
Description: In a public space in the central area of a city (or if it is possible different cities, in order to collect different opinions from different target areas), there is a pink cabin with same dimensions as telephone cabin, but with dark (actually not so dark) windows. Inside it on the place where usually there is telephone there is a similar computer device with silicon penis sticking up from it, above the penis there is a screen (please, see the picture above). And an instruction, which describes that there inside the penis are some sensors, which collect and sum every little touch on the penis and every woman or man could make by her/himself a little BLOW JOB TEST. After 1 minute on the screen will appear their results of this little "exam", if she/he puts a coin of 1 EURO into the little hole (those money will support the salary of the employ, involved in the project).
The thing, which gives a social responsible value of the project, is an employ, who clears the penis and changes the condom with another one after every person, who makes the test. He/she also will give to the audience questionnaires for filling. This employ receives salary during the action time of the project (approximately 1 or 2 weeks), so, the project contributes on the struggle with unemployment. Also, the research about the opinion of the audience about the art action and provocation in a public space is interesting as a tool for future projects.
Social responsible value:
1. the project awakes/renovates the discourse about what is the art;
2. the project collects the opinion about the topic of the project from different social groups from different cities;
3. the project contributes on the struggle with unemployment, giving temporary job for 5 people; an artist, an employ, a carpenter, a social researcher and software programmer;
4. the project contributes for development of good social practice – the project collects 5 different people to work together in a team;
5. the project contributes for the development of the new media technologies, because it will need a software designed especially for the BLOW JOB TEST device;
6. the project contributes for the development of the social science on it border with the art.
7. the project contributed for keeping the Balkan's sense of humor.
Conception: This very provocative art work aims to awake / renovates the discourse about what the art is. Is this really an art peace? And why: because the artist always does art or because if the artist says: this is art – this is art? Or here is other reason / reasons? Or this is not an art? But if somebody really wants to answer these questions, he first has to answer the question: What is the art? And here is the point, which is interesting for me, because I believe there is no answer to this question or this is very, very difficult, because the definition about art has a long story through the history and we could see how many definitions about art have been given by the mankind. I believe the reason about this, probably, is that the art is something alive and it changes all the time. This is very difficult task to define something that will not be the same after your definition; it means that you have made a definition of something different. But those are not reasons for the mankind to stop to try to understand the art.
Expected outcomes: I look forward it will awake/renovate the discourse about what is the art, which is important, I believe. At the end of the project, we will have as a result the opinion about the art and contemporary art of people from different social groups (and probably from different cities). For me it is interesting the audience to see the reactions of people, who make the test. I expect it will shake the mind of some people and especially my own mind. I hope the visitors will have really strange and uncomfortable feelings when they will pass this little test. It will go against their understanding about what is the art and as a result of it; I expect minimum 10 notes of protest and disagreement by old ladies. ;-) !
